Traveling with bébé

Looking back at these photos, has reminded me how little and young Theodore was when we holidayed in Europe. Polo and I were laughing at the photos and the things we did with him, including: spending an entire day beach hopping on a boat, hiking in the mountains, catching chairlifts with him strapped in a baby carrier, spending days at the beach and visiting restaurants for lunch and dinner. I'm glad we did all these things and it was actually the perfect age - 5 months. Doing those things now, with a 16 month old would be totally different.. I don't think we could do them all / they wouldn't be as enjoyable. Teddy is at the age now, that we wants to explore and run around.

We're heading to Bali in August for a week. We've found a great villa with our own pool (16 metres long!!) and a lovely tropical garden. It will be a different holiday, maybe not as relaxing as past holidays, but having our own pool will be wonderful. My sister and cousin are also coming, so hopefully they'll be happy to babysit a couple of nights, so Polo can I have some relaxing dinners :)

Shade / Sun

When we visit the beach, I like to find a spot that's got sun and shade. I've got fair skin, so am always careful to cover up and wear lots of suncream. I do manage to get a tan in summer, but it's quite slight and it takes we a while to get there. You'd probably say more sun kissed than tanned :). My best friend Edwina has very fair skin, so she's the perfect beach companion for me. Too bad we currently live on opposite sides of the world as she's my fellow big hat wearing, shade loving sister from another mister. She's got a term that I love, it's called 'lizarding'. It's sun-baking, but all covered up, lying on a towel with a big hat over your face. You soak up the sun, without getting burnt :). We have lizarded together in Croatia, Sardinia, Barcelona, South of France and Sydney. I very much look forward to future lizarding action somewhere in the world in the future with her.

Hope those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are enjoying your summer!

P.s I love how these two pics almost line up perfectly...

Sardinian details

The next few posts will be from our time in Sardinia last year...
I won't be sharing all the photos I took as some are set to be published. I'll share more details about that down the track.

The above pics were taken in the places we stayed whilst on holiday, they capture some of the details I came across.

Happy weekend friends!

our last beach day

we spent our last day in Sardinia at... surprise, surprise, the beach! we rented sun beds and umbrellas, read books, chatted, swam,
snacked, played cards and snoozed. it's a good thing Teddy was only 5 months old and not that mobile, doing that holiday now that
he's crawling and standing, would have been a totally different story :)

we absolutely loved our time in Sardinia. i would highly recommend it. we loved spending 10 whole days and nights with our best
friends, catching up and laughing. it was hard to say goodbye the next day, but luckily we get to see them again soon.

these are my last colour photos of Sardinia. i still have some b&w films to develop. next stop is Annecy and the French Alps.

hope you've enjoyed exploring Sardinian beaches with me.

with friends

Polo gave me an afternoon off, he looked after Teddy and i spent a few hours with two of my best friends at the beach, swimming,
laughing, talking and drinking campari spritz in the hot sun. it was a very fun afternoon and i felt happy and rejuvenated walking
back to the house. i love my baby, but it's good to have some time apart, it's healthy and it makes me a better mother. well that's
what i think. any other mum's out there find that?

the best swimming spots

we heard that the best swimming spots were reached by boat, so we hired a boat one day.
we had a really fun day and were in awe of the beauty. gosh, that water - so beautiful.
i could take a dip right about now please (in reality i am at home, looking after a sick baby).
