The last few months...

Snippets from life over the last few months... It takes me a while these days to finish a roll of film. I still carry my camera with me, wherever I go but it doesn't get to come out of my bag as often as it used to. I have a few excuses - I often have my hands full (with Teddy), I forget I have it with me, I'm lazy and just get my iPhone out, I'm often getting from A to B and forget to stop and look. I'm trying to change these habits... At least I'm aware of my excuses I guess.

On another note, It's almost winter and we're still swimming in the sea! I love it, the cool refreshing water is invigorating and makes you happy to be alive and right there in that moment...

Plant Lover

Like a lot of people, I'm a plant lover and I have a particular soft spot for cacti and succulents. I'm slowly cultivating a jungle in our kitchen, although I do wish I had a backyard to do more gardening. I grew up helping my mum and grandparents in their gardens and visiting garden shops. I didn't mind these activities, but they weren't my favourite. However, in the last ten years, I've come to realise how lovely it is to garden and have plants in one's home, I wish I had room to grow lots of flowers and veggies. Hopefully one day I'll have a backyard or a balcony to call my own. In the meantime, I'll be happy to visit and dream in other people's gardens.

The pics above were taken in the cacti and succulent garden at the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens.

Early mornings...

I never used to be a morning person, I wouldn't wake up before 8:30am most days (luckily I've always started work at 10am - haha), but that's all changed since Teddy's been around. I still like my sleep, but I actually like the early mornings. The light is so pretty and having the opportunity to watch the sun rise some mornings (thanks Ted) is truly wonderful.

One morning a month or more a go, Teddy woke particularly early. From our kitchen window I could see that the cloud were quite special, so we jumped in the car and headed to Clovelly Beach. I'm so glad we did, all I kept saying was wow!

Thank you young Theodore for making me appreciate the beauty of early mornings.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. I hope you all enjoy the long weekend. What are your plans?
We plan on cooking, catching up with friends and family and depending on the weather maybe going on a little day trip somewhere.

Above pic was taken on my iPhone, pictured are my mum's roses. Beautiful aren't they?!

A trip to the zoo

On Teddy's actual birthday, we decided to take him to the zoo. Polo took the day off work and it had been a long time since we'd both
visited. I actually can't remember the last time I went - it was that long ago. Teddy seemed to enjoy it, he really liked the monkeys,
birds, elephants and giraffe. He seemed generally interested and totally in awe of the animals which was very sweet to witness.

I enjoyed the visit too, but I must say I have mixed emotions about the zoo. It's wonderful seeing animals up close and I do understand
that zoos are about conservation, Sydney Taronga Zoo is known to be one of the best, but it is a little sad seeing wild animals
enclosed.

I've got a few more photos to share, but they're on a film I'm yet to get developed - still a few frames left to shoot.
Gosh i'm slow these days.

A rainy day walk

One rainy Saturday Maria and I met for brunch and then took a walk around the local neighbourhoods. It was a lovely morning and I
really like the photos I took. We hope to do these walks with our cameras more regularly. You can see Maria's photos here.

A special place

Wylie's Baths, is a special place in Sydney (well I think it is). I'd say it's a must visit if you live or ever visit Sydney. The Baths were first established in 1907 by a champion long distance and underwater swimmer. To read more about the history click here.

Happy new week friends!

Our favourite cake

At least once a month we bake a cake. Polo often bakes. I'm lucky he likes cooking so much. One of our favourite cakes to bake is the Rose Bakery pistachio cake. It is so lovely, moist and utterly delicious. I remember the first time that Maria made it for us, I couldn't stop thinking about it a week later. Now, that's the sign of a good cake.

More from the beach

Hi! I have a feeling you may be sick of my beach photos? I'm sorry if you are. Weekends in Sydney are pretty simple and when the
weather is good, we head to the beach. We swim about 6 months of the year and also visit in the cooler months.. Hence all the beach photos.

I'm also finding since having Teddy, I'm not taking as many photos. It seems I don't always have a hand free, oh and I take photos of him, but you don't want to see all of those.

You can follow me on Instagram, to see a bit more of a range of photos if you like (warning you will still see beach and Theodore photos on instagram too).
