The Incinerator, Willoughby

We try to explore new places in Sydney on a regular basis. The other weekend, we drove over the Harbour Bridge to check out an exhibition and grab a coffee at The Incinerator, Willoughby. 

Believe it or not this was a sewerage plant designed by American architect Walter Burley Griffin who was also the original of Canberra, Australia's Capitol City. The bottom photo is a public artwork by Sydney artist and architect Richard Goodwin. It beautifully compliments the original building, which is now a beautiful cafe and art space. Worth a visit.

Rose Seidler House

A couple of months a go, friends of ours mentioned they were going to a talk and tour of Rose Seidler House. I'd always wanted to visit, so jumped at the opportunity. It totally lived up to my expectations... I couldn't stop taking photos and I really didn't want to leave.

Rose Seidler House is considered to be one of the finest examples of mid 20th-century modern domestic architecture in Australia. Amazingly, almost all the furniture and fittings are complete and form one of the most intact post World War II design collections in public ownership.

Rose Seidler House was designed by architect Harry Seidler, for his parents Rose and Max. When completed in 1950, it was 'the most talked about house in Sydney'.

if you follow me on instagram, you would have seen these pics already. apologies. i'm waiting on my films to be developed and i'll be a little delayed in picking them up, as we're having a holiday up the coast in Byron Bay. 

annecy love

i'm still dreaming of Annecy. I love it there so much and it is a place that holds many wonderful memories of holidays and a very special event - our wedding, and now we'll have memories of our first european holiday as a family of three. 

it's snowing there now, i can just imagine how magical it is... we spent christmas there, two years a go. i must say christmas in a cold climate is so lovely and i think it makes more sense too :)

it's my birthday tomorrow, i'll be 33. gulp! and the day after, Teddy will be 10 months. what a year!

photos above from our days in london. it was so nice returning, a little surreal, happy and sad. when we landed, it just felt like we 

were returning home after being away on a holiday to sydney. i love london.

strickland house

 

we're still very much enjoying re-discovering sydney. it's a year since we've been back! hard to believe really. i still miss london, but life 
here is good. i can't complain. 

the other weekend, by chance we discovered strickland house, vaucluse. the outside of the house and it's grounds are beautiful and 
there's even a harbour beach called milk beach within the grounds. the small beach feels quite european... except for the fact that it 
has an amazing view of sydney harbour - the bridge and opera house :)
